FileHarbor privacy policy

FileHarbor is a local Windows file organizer. It has no account system, advertising, analytics, developer-operated cloud storage, or automatic upload service. The app does not transmit your imported files or library index to the publisher or developer.

Information processed on your computer

When you select or drop files into the app, it reads those files and stores a copy in Windows Documents / File Organizer / Media Library. This folder name is retained for compatibility with earlier versions. It creates Windows shortcuts in the organization locations you choose. Originals are preserved. The local index includes filenames, titles, dates, tags, folders, notes, file sizes, hashes, paths, and text extracted from supported documents and images. Bundled English OCR runs locally. Video contents are not transcribed or analyzed for scenes.

Download saves a separate full copy to your Windows Downloads folder. If a name already exists, the app adds a number instead of overwriting it. These downloaded copies remain until you delete them.

The app also creates local runtime cache and settings files in Windows application-data locations. Your files and index are not separately encrypted by FileHarbor; Windows account permissions and any drive encryption you enable apply.

Other services and applications

If Windows Documents or Downloads is redirected into OneDrive or another sync service, that service may synchronize these files according to its own settings and privacy policy. Opening a file in another application is subject to that application's behavior. Microsoft Store and Windows may independently process installation, update, diagnostic, and account information under Microsoft's policies. FileHarbor does not control those services.

Retention and deletion

Archiving only hides a file from the active view. It preserves the stored file, index entry and shortcuts. Organization edits preserve retired shortcuts in the library's .History directory. Uninstalling FileHarbor does not intentionally delete the Documents library, original files, or Downloads copies.

For permanent removal of all library data, close FileHarbor and delete Documents / File Organizer / Media Library in File Explorer after saving any files you want to keep. Delete downloaded copies separately from Downloads. Removing a shortcut alone does not remove its target. Backups, synced copies and recycle-bin contents must be managed separately using their respective services. The publisher cannot remotely access or erase your local library.

If you choose to email support, your email and the information you send are shared with the recipient through your email provider. Avoid sending private files unnecessarily. This policy describes the app's data handling; handling of support correspondence is subject to the publisher's support practices.

Changes to the app's data handling will be reflected in an updated policy.

This website

This website includes no analytics scripts, advertising trackers, or app uploads. The hosting provider may process ordinary connection information, such as IP addresses and request logs, to deliver and secure the site. Share controls only open the sharing service you choose; those services have their own privacy policies.
